Bobby Thomas Joins Sky Bet League Two Side Barrow AFC On Loan
Burnley Football Club have today confirmed that defender Bobby Thomas has joined Sky Bet League Two side Barrow AFC on loan for the remainder of the season. The Clarets’ teenager moves to Cumbria where he also had a loan spell with Kendal Town two seasons ago for the chance of further first-team experience.
Thomas becomes the sixth signing for recently appointed Bluebirds’ boss Michael Jolley, who previously spent three years as the Clarets’ U23 coach up until 2017, before leaving Turf Moor to become manager of Grimsby Town.
Thomas, who will be twenty years old at the end of January 2021, has made one senior appearance for the Clarets against Millwall in the Carabao Cup last September 2020. The central defender has progressed impressively through the U18 & U23 ranks since joining as a scholar in 2017 and he since signed his first professional contract in 2019 after being named as the club’s young player of the year.
After featuring in and around the Clarets senior squad since last season resumed post-lockdown as well as playing regularly in the U23s, Thomas now gets the chance to test himself in Sky Bet League Two with Barrow AFC currently sitting 20th in the table in their first season back in the Football League after an absence of forty-eight years.
