Clarets Midfielder Leave Morecambe For Accrington Stanley In Loan Switch

Burnley Football Club have this afternoon confirmed that midfielder Adam Phillips has moved across Lancashire leaving Morecambe to join Accrington Stanley. Phillips, ended a similar loan spell with Morecambe and now moves up a division to join Stanley’s push for a Sky Bet League One promotion place for the rest of the season.

Speaking about his transfer deadline day move Adam Phillips said, “I enjoyed my time at Morecambe Football Club and this is a chance now to move up another division and test myself at the this level. I know a few of the lads at Accrington Stanley, I’am of course looking forward to the challenge of helping them for the rest of the season.”

Phillips, who joined the Clarets in August 2019 after ending a spell with Norwich City, impressed in the Clarets U23’s in his first season at Turf Moor. The former Liverpool teenager and England youth international then made a major impact at Morecambe after moving to the Globe Arena at the start of the current campaign.

The Garstang born midfielder only missed one Sky Bet League Two games for Morecambe and he is currently the leading scorer with ten goals for Derek Adams side, who currently occupy a play-off place. Phillips, now joins an Accrington Stanley side that sit ninth in Sky Bet League One just three points outside the play-off places with games in hand.
