Nuno Tavares Interested In Premier League Move
Premier League Burnley Football Club were named in early March as one of the contenders for the signing of Benfica fullback Nuno Tavares. The Clarets were put alongside Newcastle United in the race for the young defender. Tavares is expected to leave the Lisbon side at the end of the season of the current season.
According to reports in the Portuguese newspapers this morning, the Clarets are indeed ‘attentive’ to Tavares’ situation at Benfica and have made ‘exploratory contacts’ however things could soon advance with the clubs set to meet around the negotiations table to discuss the future of the young defender.
Nuno Tavares is having a tough season at Benfica with only eleven appearances so far and is struggling to get a place in the team. His future will depend on the Eagles’ moves in the transfer window, as he should be free to go once the Lisbon club find a replacement.
The youngster is protected by a release clause of €88m which obviously seems exaggerated and recent claims said the Lisbon side would demand €30m which also sounds a lot for a player who’s been used so little this season.
