Bradley Burton Possible Clarets Summer Transfer Target
Aston Villa are set to release defender Bradley Burton at the end of the current season, the defender who has captained the Villa U23 squad in the past can play either right-back or centre-back and the Clarets are monitoring the situation as a possible summer signing.
Having been told by Aston Villa that he will be released at the end of the season, he linked up with Steve Stone’s squad for a trial at Turf Moor last week and featured in the side’s 5-2 defeat to Leeds United at Thorp Arch Training Ground in the Premier League Two match.
After defeat to the Champions Leeds United on the final day of the U23 season, the Clarets narrowly miss out on a top five finish which would have resulted in a play-off place and a shot at promotion. However as manager Steve Stone continues to improve Academy both on and off the pitch the squad will look to go one better next season.
The club will confirm which youngsters will be staying on in the coming weeks as they shape the squad for next season. But it remains unsure if Burnley will offer Burton a contract for next season. The Clarets, along with most other clubs, take a number of trialists in over the closing weeks of the season to run the rule over potential recruits.
