Ashley Barnes Fined & Banned In Court For Drink Driving
Burnley Football Club’s Premier League striker Ashley Barnes has been fined £13,000 and banned from driving for twelve months after pleading guilty to drink driving charges at Stockport Magistrates’ Court today.
The 31-year-old was stopped by police at 03.00am on 11th May 2021 on Balmoral Way in Wilmslow, while driving a black Mercedes V Class hours after the Clarets secured their Premier League status against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Burnley Football Club have declined to comment further on the incident.
A spokesman previously said the matter would be treated “with the upmost seriousness” and Barnes would be “subject to internal disciplinary procedures as a result”. The Clarets striker who lives in Wilmslow was arrested after being stopped by the police. During the hearing, Barnes was offered the chance to reduce his driving ban by three months by taking a drink-driving course.
