James Tarkowski Set to Leave Turf Moor In Transfer Window
Burnley Football Club are keen to listen to offers for James Tarkowski in a major boost to long-term suitors West Ham United, it has been reported this week that the centre-back wants to see out the final year of his Clarets contract and leave on a free transfer next year.
However, a source has at Burnley has told “Football insider” that the club do not want to lose Tarkowski for nothing in a year’s time and would prefer to cash in during the current window. This will put West Ham United and other Premier League clubs on red alert, the Irons have registered their interest in James Tarkowski this summer after failing to land him last year. When they submitted a series of bids rising to £30million for the defender last year but Burnley held firm.
Sean Dyche’s side subsequently tried to secure Tarkowski to a new contract but he went public to reveal the offer was well below his expectations. He is in a strong negotiating position, as remaining at Turf Moor until he becomes a free agent next summer would allow him to command a huge contract and signing-on fee with no transfer fee involved.
Burnley’s chance of stance compared to a year ago presents an intriguing option for West Ham United. James Tarkowski made thirty-six Premier League appearances last season as Burnley once again avoided the drop. He joined the club in 2016 from Brentford and has so far made 182 appearances for the Clarets.
