Jon Pepper Appointed New Technical Director of Vandrezzer Football Club

Vandrezzer Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of experienced former Bradford City & Burnley Football Club manager, Jonathan Mark Pepper as our Technical Director. Jonathan who will be the first person to occupy this role at Vandrezzer Football Club, is a highly educated and motivated professional, with extensive knowledge and an excellent understanding of the Football Industry as well as the practical requirements in creating an Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

After twenty-five years experience in professional football, Jonathan Pepper was the Academy football Manager at the English Premier League side Burnley Football Club, where he oversaw the design and development of the football and coaching philosophy, coaching curriculum/programme and Coaching Competency Framework (CCF) of the Burnley Academy. During this time, he created, delivered and monitored the vision, strategy and Academy Performance Plan (APP); and was a key member of the Technical Control Board within Burnley FC, where he took the academy from its Category three status to become an elite Category one academy in the space of four seasons.

Speaking about Jon Pepper, Real Salt Lake Academy Director, Tom Spall said, “I have found Jonathan to be very passionate about Youth Development, which is very well supported by a thorough understanding of the development process of young players. His knowledge enables him to understand the holistic development of the player and broadens his skill set beyond coaching to other areas such as strategy and leadership, sports science, education and welfare and talent identification”.

The 49-year-old obtained his UEFA ‘B’ Coaching Licence in 1998 and UEFA ‘A’ Coaching Licence in 2003. He has been awarded with the English FA Advanced Level 4 Youth Award in 2014. Jonathan also worked as Academy Coach of English Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest Football Club, Head of Youth Development (Academy Manager) at Bradford City FC and he was the Centre of Excellence Director (9-16 year-olds) & Assistant U18 Youth Coach at Chesterfield Football Club. These roles are in addition to his audit experience with Double Pass, where he served as project manager auditing the operation of Premier League clubs in the UK, which afforded him the opportunity to share strategy with the likes of legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Dr. David Pauwels – Partner & Senior Consultant at Double Pass described Jon Pepper as as a highly valuable workforce and enjoyable person. According to Dr Pauwells, “I worked together with Jonathan in the assessment project of Double Pass for the English Premier League (Elite Player Performance Plan), his proper analytical skills, critical insights, deep discussions and presentations were strong points of him. I will always remember the professionalism of Jonathan when we worked together at the audit of Manchester United and interviewed Sir Alex Ferguson himself, and many others at Club & Academy decision making level”. 

As Vandrezzer Football Club Technical Director, Jonathan is expected improve the club further in areas of organisation robustness, style of play, staff training and competency, proper talent identification and development which will eventually create a formidable path for players’ development  and transfers. He has also been tasked to help streamline the team’s training methodology, structure our youth programme as well as put in place other programs that would make Vandrezzer Football Club and its academy the nerve center for player development in Africa.
