Will Couch – Clarets Youngster Plays For Sheffield Wednesday U23’s On Trial
Clarets youngster Will Couch played for Sheffield Wednesday U23’s this afternoon as they came back to draw with Swansea City U23’s. The Welsh side went into the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Joe Thomas and Tivonge Rushesha, however Neil Thompson’s side fought backing the second half and managed to score an eighty-fifth minute equaliser to secure a point on the road.
Among those that turned out for the Owls was seventeen year old Will Couch, who appears to be spending some time on trial with Sheffield Wednesday ahead of a potential exit from the Clarets this summer. The central midfielder has been a regular in the Clarets U18’s Premier League side so far this season, as well as playing twice in the FA Youth Cup. But his arrival at Sheffield Wednesday suggests that a move is on the cards for the youngster.
Will Couch, a Republic of Ireland Youth International, signed for Burnley on a two year apprenticeship after making his way through the ranks at Turf Moor. He is one of several young players that the Owls are currently looking at for next season. Couch was taken off on seventy-one minutes, but he impressed on his first appearance for the club.
