Emma Taylor, Ella Kinzett & Alyssa Aherne Sign From Manchester United
Burnley FC Women are pleased to confirm the signings of Emma Taylor, Ella Kinzett and Alyssa Aherne on season-long loan deals from Manchester United Women’s Academy. The trio become the eighth, ninth and tenth additions to Jonathan Morgan’s side this summer and all three were involved with United’s U21s last season winning a league & cup double.
Defender Taylor was with Liverpool’s academy until last summer, and after a successful first season with the Red Devils last term is now happy to have become a Claret for the 2022/23 campaign.
She said: “Burnley is a Club who have been progressing on and off the field for the last few years, and that’s something that’s attractive to me as a player which is one of the main reasons I’ve come here. I’m looking forward to learning from the older players in the squad as a younger player, and playing my part in what we hope is going to be a successful year together.”
Midfielder Ella Kinzett meanwhile broke through into United’s U21s at the back end of 2020/21 before going on to play a key role in their success last term with 23 appearances.
She added, “I’m over the moon to get the deal done and come to Burnley for the season now. Having trained with the girls for the last week or so already, I just can’t wait to get going now and be playing games. They’re a great group, and one I’m more than happy to be a part of. Jonathan has spoken to all three of us, and we know the dual-signings are going to be good for us.”
Forward Alyssa Aherne, who was born in Pendle, completes the trio. Prolific in front of goal, Aherne already has some experience in the top tier having spent part of last season out on loan with Birmingham City Women. The forward still found time to net nine goals for United in 11 appearances, including a hat-trick in a 14-1 victory against West Ham United Women.
She said: “I’m buzzing to be joining Burnley this season. I really like the way the Club’s going about things in the women’s side of the game, and some of this summer’s signings have been excellent additions, I think a lot could easily play higher up than this level. I’m excited to see what this year is going to hold for us.”
Burnley FC Women manager Morgan added, “All three of the dual-signings are going to be great additions for us, and that’s not just because they’re coming from one of the biggest Clubs in the world. They all possess their own qualities, and we saw that even more in the friendly a few weeks ago which only affirmed our desire to get them through the door. They’ll definitely add to what we already have, and I know they’ll learn in turn from the rest of the squad as young players. It’s good for us and good for them to have them on board.”
