Burnley Sign Turkish International Striker Halil Dervisoglu
Burnley Football Club have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Turkish International striker Halil Dervişoğlu on a season-long loan from Brentford Football Club. The young striker rose through Sparta Rotterdam academy ranks, going on to make 60 appearances for the first team, before a move to the Bees in the summer of 2019.

Dervişoğlu has spent the last two seasons out on loan, first with FC Twente in the Eredivisie and then a season and a half in the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray. The Rotterdam-born attacker was eligible to play for either Netherlands or Turkey, choosing the latter. Dervişoğlu represented Turkey from U19-U21 level, before receiving his first call-up to the senior set-up in May 2021 and then being named in the Euro 2020 squad, now with six goals in 13 caps.
Speaking about joining the Clarets Dervişoğlu said, “I’m very happy to be here and excited, it’s a big club and I have had a very warm welcome from everybody. I spoke with the manager and he told me about the project here, I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Manager Vincent Kompany said, “We would like to thank Brentford for allowing us take Halil on loan for the season. He’s a naturally gifted Turkish international, who has an instinct to score goals and will give his all to help the team this season.”
