City Striker Coaching Posh

Aaron McLean City Striker Coaching Opponents

It’s often said that football is a funny old game that throws up strange situations or fates unlike any other industry.  However I am not sure I’ve ever come across the situation that will arise this weekend when Peterborough United welcome Bradford City to London Road.

Aaron McLean

Following the sacking of Peterborough’s manager Darren Ferguson last weekend, Aaron McLean has been asked to take the role of Player/Coach of Peterborough United by chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

When you first hear this news it doesn’t sound to strange, however McLean is currently a Bradford City player on loan at Peterborough United yet this Saturday he will be coaching his loan club Peterborough United against his parent club Bradford City.

I know the Bradford City supporters have a mixed view of Aaron McLean spell at Valley Parade, but having worked with Aaron as the clubs Commercial Manager for the last two years, I can tell you he is a true gentleman.

He is prepared to do anything in terms of community or public visits and he is always up for meeting the supporters, whilst I was at Bradford City I have lost count of the number of boots and shirts he has signed and given away to supporters at his own cost.

For me Aaron McLean is a great professional and I wish him well both as a player and as a coach in the future, whether that be at Bradford City or another club.
