Burnley and Crystal Palace Battling to Sign Will Hughes
Burnley Football Club are said to be interested in signing Watford midfielder Will Hughes as the Hornets star is said to be available in a cut price deal potentially as little as £5M. The twenty-six year old midfielder is going cheaper than expected due to his contract at Vicarage Road expiring at the end of the season.
Crystal Palace are also interested in the midfielder and discussions are said to be at an advanced stage, but Burnley have made their own proposal with a view to signing Hughes by the end of the transfer window. It remains to be seen, however, if Hughes is interested in leaving Watford this season ahead of a potentially lucrative free transfer move away next summer. He has already rejected a two-year deal on the table from Watford and with his contract expiring next summer looks likely to leave.
The former Derby County central midfielder has been cut from the first-team and is currently training with the U23’s. However, Watford are determined not to lose him for a pittance and value him higher than Crystal Palace £5m bid. It is understood the Eagles are unwilling to raise that offer, so the Clarets would need to improve on the £5M offer to secure the services of Will Hughes.
