DC United Boss Wayne Rooney Monitoring Clarets Winger Manuel Benson
Wayne Rooney (DC United Manager) is currently monitoring the Clarets Belgian winger Manuel Benson, the former Manchester United and England International is looking for new talent for the MLS outfit and he has sent a trusted scout to watch the skilful winger.
Manuel Benson, joined the Clarets in the summer and has been involved in fifteen of the Clarets Eighteen matches so far this season. Benson has made just four starts so far this season, but has been a key member of squad coming off the bench eleven times. The winger has made 227 passes of which 194 have reached their target a success Arte of 85%. Benson has assisted in three Clarets goals and he has also scored three goals for the club.
Burnley Football Club have lost just one of their opening eighteen Sky Bet Championship games under Vincent Kompany, which lead to a staggering eight Premier League clubs watching the Clarets midweek win over Norwich City at Turf Moor. A number of the scouts were they to watch centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis who is on loan from Manchester City, whilst Aston Villa were reported to be watching manager Vincent Kompany.
DC United’s Pete Shuttleworth was also at the match to watch Manuel Benson come on as a subistute to win a crucial penalty against Norwich City on Tuesday. Rooney is currently under pressure after DC United finished bottom of the Eastern Conference with just seven wins from thirty-four matches. The former England skipper was back at Old Trafford this month, partly to check on son Kai’s astonishing progress in the academy.
The DC United boss has been working hard studying players and teams back in England and the former Royal Antwerp star Benson is on the radar after a solid start to life in the Sky Bet Championship. If the MSL side are to make a bid for the winger, it would need to be a big bid as the winger is just three months into a four year deal at Turf Moor.
